| I like taking photo for Ubyssey and I have a wonderful photo team there. Megan was posing for me to make Page Friday's cover image.
The cover looks cool to me.
OK ...... done with the warm-up. Time for main course. It's always fun to watch people compete at UBC "Storm The Wall". Part of the reason is that you could do whatever you want to conquer the wall. Yup whatever you want!!
It means you could use the 3rd leg if you want.
Apparently it does help alot.
Naked guy climbing the wall? Highlight of this month. |

| UBC announced its new president, Stephen Toope, in the early morning. If someone paid me $300,000 dollars per year, I would laugh harder than him.
In the afternoon, CBC chief correspondent, Peter Mansbridge spoke at Chan center.
And yes I managed to get a photo with him after the speak. (Thank you Megan)
I took the following baseball photo last Sunday. I like it alot.
And it has been used on Tuesday's front page.

I decided to set up a simple "studio" at home. The main purpose is to practice the lighting effect. I bought a 250-Watt 3400K
and a 500-Watt 3400K tungsten light bulbs and found that they were just too powerful to be used in my small apartment. I ended up
with using a 40-Watt energy saving light bulb and it worked just fine.
Spending 4 bucks, I bought two white paper boards and two black paper boards as the background. From now on, there will be a lot of egg photos in my website. Egg is the hardest object to shoot, especially shooting against a white background since it requires a good lighting setup to distinguish its round shape from the white background. But tonight I simplified my task by using a black background. ^.^!!!
From recent shooting sessions in Chan center and tonight's practice, I realized that under-exposure is the key word to make a good photo when there is a strong spot light on the object from certain angle. Comparing the photo I took on 12th March and 13th March, the latter one looks way better than the first one. The spot light on Romeo Dallaire's face was way too strong. It's just a wrong exposure. PRACTICE!!!!!!! I need more practice!!! SEXY EGG PHOTO!!!!!!!! |

| My laptop seems more stable than desktop and there are no worries about sudden crash down of the stupid windows. Anyway, it's random. Dr. David Suzuki came visiting UBC at Chan center. I went to take photo for Ubyssey.
I like Chan center. It's so comfortable and well decorated. UBC should have events there every day and they should be free to all students.
Dr. Suzuki was talking about how university shouldn't get involved into too much commercial or business activities. University should concentrate more on the education part. He also complained about the lack of responsibilities of Canadian government and media toward environmental issues.
Photographying with him after his speech. Despite the huge controversy about him being a public speaker instead of a real hard working scientist, I enjoy this event. |

| Tonight, I went to UBC's Chan center to watch/photography General Romeo Dallaire's speech. (Believe or not, I just restarted my computer for 3 times in the last 5 mins. There are definitely something wrong with my "beloved" winxp.)
One thing he mentioned made me think on the way home. He said that the leadership will not survive the future. Leadership shapes the future...... (I have no idea when my computer would crash again. I'd better finish here and shut the windows down.) |

I bought the CD "Our endless numbered days" by Iron and Wine (highly recommended by Alex) from HMV this afternoon and
started playing it in Trista's car on the way home. The music reminds me of Sufjan Stevens's songs which Michelle used to play alot on production day.
It's relaxing and mellow, but never tame, and never boring. This is a beautiful album that can be played again and again.
I like it. It's Saturday night and I feel a bit weird to stay at home. Not because I don't like staying at home with Trista. It's just ... getting used of photographying UBC sports games on weekend evenings. It's so quiet and relaxed at home. But ... I miss the cheerful noise in War Memorial Gym. Ubyssey is looking for new editors for next term which means it's almost the end of my work term. Sad? Yup, of course I am sad. But when I think about this term; think about these lovely friends I made, I feel happy! It's a fond, fond memory. Sad .... Happy ....Sad .... Happy ....Sad .... Happy ....Sad .... Happy .... It's funny that right now my computer plays the last song from "Our endless numbered days". It's called "Passing afternoon" and the lyric says "... a baby sleeps in all our bones, so scared to be alone ... " . ... .. . 3am .. . . . . time to sleep. |

Noon time, down to Westend, I met John Ince, the author of "The politics of lust" also the leader of
The Sex Party, in his cute apartment. The photo session was really short but high
quality. He is a nice guy, very easy to talk with.
On the way back to Ubyssey's office, I drove around Westend. It's so pretty there. I couldn't believe that the cherry is actually blooming now.
Spring is coming. Time to make some changes. |

| March 4th, I hate this date! It's been a weird day since I woke up. First is my computer. It keeps restarting itself and gives me this blue screen reporting some page fault errors. In the afternoon, UBC women volleyball team loses at the CIS championship game in Calgary. And then I got a phone call from Trista telling me she got fever. Evening is even worse. UBC women basketball team loses the western championship game at home court. Followed by the heart breaking result of men's basketball team, losing UVIC at the western championship game. Thinking about the game, it is the last basketball game that I shoot in UBC. I've been shooting different sports in UBC War M. Gym for almost 2 years and there will not be any games to me. No more home court games! It's really sad to end in this way. Seriously, it's sad!!!!!! Despite the bad result, I did enjoy my last day of basketball shooting. I went to War M. Gym with Johnson at 2pm shooting Canada Western Final Four for 8 straight hours covered 4 games. SFU Clan vs U of Winnipeg Wesmen at 2pm. SFU won.
Saskatchewan Huskies vs Regina Cougars at 4pm. Huskies won.
Regina Cougars #15 drives to the net.
Huskies vs UBC Thunderbirds at 6pm. Huskies won.
UBC T-birds vs. UVIC Vikes. UVIC won.
Expectation is so high that it hurts badly. Well, there will be another game on 16th March in Halifax for the CIS champion. T-birds will fly on top of them. I have faith! |
