31th December 2004 Friday
Last day of 2004, God gave us a big sunny day.

I thought about this year, trying to use a word to describe it, but I failed. There are lot of things happened during the most recent 365 days. Some painful memories mixed with great great happiness.

I am happy that I learn about photography. And I am happy that I have this wonderful relation with Trista now. I also happy about my friends: Carolyn is doing good in Taiwan; Mr.A is in Taiwan as well and taking care of his cat; ET is studying in SFU for her master degree; James will start his work soon; Eric finished his study at UBC; Dongdong falls in love again....

However there are still friends in misery. Some of them are struggling in Beijing, my hometown. I care about them and I wish they could do better or have better luck in year 2005. I really do.....

New year is coming. I wish all my family and friends could have a cheerful happy new year!!

28th December 2004 Tuesday
I went to Victoria with Trista, Eric, David and Shelly for two days. The trip was wonderful!

We were lucky that the weather was great as well. Two big sunny days in this cold winter really cheered us up.

Beside the unforgettable trip, I was really bothered by my term grade. The final term grade should be out on 22nd Dec. However, I only got the mark for my calculus IV. I was kind of pissed off by the delay. It's only a week ahead of next term, I do wish I could get all marks by the end of this year. Although I love UBC very much, I do want to say "It's really SUCKS!!!"

I also changed my server from Gotoecom to Lunarpages. The reason was simple that I could get better services there in the Lunarpages. It only cost 8 bucks per month and I could get PHP,JSP and ASP support, 1GB storage with 40GB Bandwidth plus mySQL database. I think I made the right choice.

So far, the new server works just great.

Woow, I can't believe that 2004 is reaching its end. Time always flies in the rate faster than you could ever imagined. So, All I can do is to cherish today and be prepared for tomorrow. And april28th will help me to recall the "yesterday"!

24th December 2004 Friday
Merry Xmas!!!!

Trista and I went to have dinner with uncle Kent's at the "sandbar" in granville island. The food there was really nice. Interesting that we met Priscilla and her boyfriend as well. hee hee.. What a small world.

Sometime, it's really nice that you could spend holiday with your family. It's warm and sweet, no matter what!

Merry Xmas again for everyone!

Inspired by the FM forum, I looked through my photo folders, selecting a series of pictures which I called "the best of 2004".

Click here to check out those pictures.

Looking through those pictures, I am so glad that Trista was here with me, loving me and supporting me. I count the places we went during this year:

Beijing
Gui-Lin
Tibet
Nepal
ShenZhen
Nei-Meng
Gong-Zhou
HongKong
Toronto
Niagara Falls
Waterloo
New Brunswick
Prince Edward Island
Nova Scotia
Ottawa
Montreal
Quebec City
Vancouver
Canadian Rockie Mt.
Calgary

There are indeed lot of places that we went and there are also lot of sweet memories we have had.

Looking forward, I want to hold her hand, walking through the new year ...... and the year after ......and forever and ever!

21st December 2004 Tuesday
Lately, I've been busy with some coding projects. Gogomenu.com is one. Sego Industry, the company that I was working for in this summer, is another. For Gogomenu.com, I start putting all my limited knowledge toward PHP into real code. The progress is slow, but I believe it will get better and better. Sego Industry, on the other hand, is toally in the Java cup. JSP, Java Servlet etc. I can't deny that Java is still my favorite programming language so far.

Dec 21st, in Lunar year, represents the coldest day in the winter. From now on, the weather will be warmer and warmer. Trista and I went to uncle Kent's place. It's like a family dinner. They made this wonderful grill beef for us. After the dinner, we all like little kids, sitting around the table, playing Monopoly while drinking red wine. Haaaa it's really a fun game.

I called Mom tonight. She and dad will go to HK for couples of day. I wish they could have a fun in HK. Mom told me that it's snowing in Beijing now. Woow, I just realized that I miss the snow scene in Beijing very much. When I was little, I did expect snow in every winter. And I went out to play with other kids, running around on the street, making snow ball to fight with each other......................

I still can remember how I used to play with my father. Old days are gone, but memories will never ever be ended.

But I just miss them all.

18th December 2004 Saturday
What a fun night. Trista and I went to watch the "Christmas Recital" presented by Al Mozaico Flamenco Dance Academy at Capilano College's Performing Arts Threatre. What's more, one of our good friend, Priscilla, was performing tonight as well.

This is my first time watching flamenco dance. Well, I know what's flamenco but I never went to a recital like this. It's so fun! Beautiful dance. Although she is only a beginner, I think Priscilla really did a good job. On the way back, Trista said to me that she felt Priscilla was the best one in her group, which I totally agreed with it as well.

During the show, I kept shooting the dance. I like the stage light effect alot. Please click here to check out my other picutres. I really like them!!!

After the show, Trista and I went to meet her and her bf, Charles. They are a sweet lovely couple!

14th December 2004 Tuesday
Finally, Muffin decided to do some exercise. Keeping a nice body shape is very important to a girl.

What should I do with this?....... thinking........ thinking

Yeah, I will do it in the muffin-way!

Oh come on, let me grab it!!!!

Can't you just let me grab it?

.... en ..... nice

13th December 2004 Monday
YEAH!!!! I have my own scarf made by Trista. :)
Hee, so now, Muffin and I both have scarfs. ^_^ THANK YOU SWEETIE!! hee heee..happy!!!

In the evening, I took some picture for Trista and Muffin. I like this one alot.

12th December 2004 Sunday
It's been a while that I didn't go out taking landscape pictures. Tonight, after dinner, Trista suggested that we should go out taking some night view pictures. Since from tomorrow, it will start raining again.

So, after dinner, we drove to North Vancouver. We didn't drive under the map. Instead, we drove by feeling. Stop at anyplace where we could see a nice view.

The picture is ok. Nothing special. But it's exactly what we saw at that moment. And to me, the best thing was driving with Trista, alone on the highway, listening the music we like, talking and laughing.

11th December 2004 Saturday
What the hell. I decided give myself a one day break.

So, I drove Trista to Delta to buy the most delicious doughnut in Krispy Kreme. Oh It's so yummy!!!! If you are lucky to buy those which are just cooked, you will fall in love with these hot soft little creatures immediately. I bought a dozen of original flavor back home. Trista told me that it tasted even better if you use microwave heat it up for 10 to 15 seconds.

I tried it............OOOOOOHHHHH..........my dear mother of lord, sweet and pure!

Dinner time, Trista's uncle invited us to have dinner at their place. So we drove down to UBC and had a really nice dinner with them. After dinner, we decorated the Apartment with those Xmas light and ornaments. It's really a fun thing to do.

Well, I ate three "vinegar garlic" at dinner time. So, now, Trista doesn't allow me to stay close. But muffin likes me. She thinks I am a dead fish. Same smell.

On the way back, Trista told me that although two people's world could be wonderful, staying close to family can always make her warm and cheerful. Yup I can't deny this. Although I could enjoy my life alone, sometime, life is more colorful when you stay with your family. So if I could manage my life in the way I want, I will not stay apart with my family. My dad and mom, Trista's dad and mom, we could all live close.

Nothing is more important than family.

And I have a mission now to make it just happen!

10th December 2004 Friday
Trista is coming to town!!!

After picking her up from the airport, we went to have dinner with Dongdong and Eric in Ai-Yi Hotpot at Granville on 41st. Trista and I both love that place. The food quanlity is really good and the price is reasonable. Anyway, we ordered lot of food and ate them all....... So nice!!!!

After the hotpot, all of us went to silver city watching "Ocean's 12". God, I love this movie.
I will buy this DVD for sure! Trista and I both agree that it's better than "Ocean's 11".

After going back home, Trista took this picture of Muffin. I love it alot.

Meow Meow Meow!

8th December 2004 Wednesday
Well well well, last day for me to study before taking two final exams tomorrow.

I finish the CalIV and 85% of ECON. Tomorrow, I will finish the rest 15% of ECON first and then I will start doing exercises. God, I wish I could have a good luck on the exam.

Last night, Muffin suddenly jumped on the sofa, showing me her lovely innocent eyes. I felt her so cute and took this picture. Trista likes it very much. hee heee... I really appreciate Muffin for staying with me. Although she can't even talk, I do feel like talking with her for long time already.

It's 2:40am now. Time to sleep!

7th December 2004 Tuesday
Happy Birthday dear mom!!!!
The worst thing to me is that I couldn't go back home to celebrate your birthday, although I believe dad will give you a nice greeting. But still, I feel so sorry for couldn't make it.

I miss you, mom, and I miss our home in Beijing. Although I try to make my life here as meaningful as I could, although I try to live in a happy life, I do miss you and dad alot. Sometime, I woke up at night, I thought about you. Although I am growing up and could be more independent, you and dad are always the most important people in my life. And family is important. It's like the lighouse forever leads me to my destiny.

I miss you mom!

Although I am getting tougher and tougher, to you, I am still your baby. And I am lucky to have a mom like you.

I wish you could have a happy life with dad in Bejing. I wish someday in the future, I could make you proud.

I wish, I could see you soon.

Here is a little poem. To you my dearest mom:

To the one whom I owe my life
Who's known me since my birth,
Who loved me more than enough
To bring me into this earth.

Who's raised me up knowing right from wrong
Who taught me how to read and write,
Who laughed, and played, and sang with me
and tucked me in at night.

Words can never thank you enough
For all of your love and tears,
That have shaped me into who I am today
Over these many years.

I want you to know that I love you
More than words can say,
And I want to thank you for turning me into
The man I am today.

I couldn't have asked the Lord above
For better mom than you,
so thank you, Mom
For everything you do!

No matter how old I could be, I am forever your little boy.

Happy Birthday my dearest mom!

5th December 2004 Sunday
Basically, you will do nothing but study at exam period. However, I still feel hard to concentrate. I was day
dreaming about the holiday with Trista, about the city we could go visit, about the life without worring about any
reports or assignments.

It's a big sunny day. And in the afternoon, I decided to take a panorama picture from the balcony. I took 4 pictures
continuelly from same horizonal level but different view angles. Then I use a software called Panorama Maker to
combine these pictures into one panorama image. I was surprised by the result.

This image should be nearly 160 degree from where my tripod was. It's kind of new experiment to me and I enjoy it alot.

Please click here to see the bigger size image.

I think I waill wait for Trista's coming. Then I could take her to somewhere up in North Vancouver at night, taking
panorama picture of downtown Vancouver. It will be cool.

4th December 2004 Saturday
Last night, I went to have dinner with Eric. He was not in a good mood and decided to cheer himself up by eating some nice food. So, we drove to a western food restaurant to eat steak. I like the food there, though the environment wasn't that great. Anyway, after dinner, he took me to his favorite pub at downtown, the steamwork. The pub made their own tasty beer. Once I took Trista there as well. I believe she loves it.

We talked about life, sports and relation. There are lot of topics for two men in the pub. I don't think it's proper to write about his presonal feeling in my blog. However, I want to tell him that "If you know you love her, instead of fall in love with the feeling of having someone beside, please go pursue your love! And at least, Trista and I will support you."

People need to confront their fears. And people need to confront their love as well.

When I was home from downtown I couldn't get online. I called shaw cable. They said there was a technique problem in my building and they will fix it as soon as they can. However, I got my internet signal at noon today. I was wondering that, without internet connection, what could people do with their computers?

Although there are only 4 days left for the final. I still can't get into the exam mode. I went downstair to swim, but there were some kids playing in the pool. So, I went back home and plan to go in 30 mins again.

Trista was cooking when I went back home. And I didn't want to study in this 30 mins. I took out my camera, looking around, trying to find something to shoot. And I saw my used Asus motherboard, sleeping on the side desk. So, I found out my macro extension tubes and attached the 12mm one onto the 36mm one. Then I put my 50mm F/1.8 Canon lens on these tubes......... Here I come, marco world!

Shooting motherboard is fun but it takes so long to focus those tiny little wire. And it's time for me to go swim. I wish tomorrow I could be more concentrated so that I would have time to set up the tripod and taking some nice pictures of my motherboard again.

2nd December 2004 Thursday
This afternoon, Johnson sent me over a set of his code. It's an image script, writing in PHP. I upload these files into my april28th.com's website and try to run it. However, the server kept sending me back error message. So I login into my web control panel, trying to figure out what's happened. And surprisingly, I found out that the web hosting company didn't give me the package that I paied for. Instead of providing me the "Advanced package", they limited my web site in their "lite service". In another word, they charged me 115 bucks for the "Advanced service" but providing me the 50 bucks service for half year.

I was very angry. So I drove to the company, yelling at the manage. Well, bascially, there was just one people + one desk + one desktop. That's everything about the company. Anyway, after "fighting", we settled on the agreement that Gotoecom (the hosting company) will keep providing me another full month service and fully refund what I paied. So, I got my money back and I will have one month to switch to another hosting company.

By the way, thank you Johnson for helping me apply another web hosting service.

Tonight, I cooked pasta. Well, it should be Trista's pasta. I was so hungry and I ate alot. Two plates of pasta plus 3 chicken legs.

The pasta tasted good. :)

ET sent the "May Day"'s new album to me. Totally 13 mp3. Thank you very much!!!

While I was listening the new ablum, Muffin jumped onto my table and showed me this weird looking.

Well, maybe she doesn't like "May Day".
