| Friday, I am in LOVE!!!! President of Mexico, Vicente Fox, came visiting UBC this afternoon. As photo editor I got the media pass to photography the whole event. Beside I accidentally falling down from the stupid folding chair, everything went smoothly.
After the conference, I went to UBC farm with Eric and Paul (the news editors). It's friday, and we perfectly finished the job. We should celebrate. Yup, beers and burger!
Just realize that I wasn't in any photo for really long time. I should ask people to take some photos for me!!! It's the end of September. Lot of things happened. Good or bad, they were all memories and I will carry them forever. |

| 3 AM, I am too tired to sleep. I had a great time at the office today. Michelle (the girl in blue), the production manager, has this cute little workshop, teaching people how to layout the news paper. I actually got chance to layout a news page. It's really fun.
Then Claudia got her birthday cookie.
Ubyssey is like a big family. I am glad to be here. |

| Working as a photo editor means you could have a lot of opportunities to shoot different events. Friday, after picking up my new campus media parking permit, I went to the thunder-birds stadium, taking photo for the UBC men's hockey game. It's my second time shooting the hockey game. I felt more relaxed.
Staurday night, asking by culture editor Simon, I went to Downtown photographying a live concert in Studio 156 (#156 West Hasting St.). The band was good but the pub was way too hot. It's almost 40 degree inside the room. My hair and T-shirt were all wet. Even my camera was sweating.
Sunday noon, there was the UBC women soccer game. I drove all the way back to the Wolfson field, shooting the soccer game against the 12 oclock sun. One of the photo turns out pretty funny.
I can't believe that it's nearly the end of September. Time flies.

" There is a noticeable lack of poetry in the world. As a result, the world does not seem a place where joy and
transcendence can thrive anymore. Aspiring to greatness seems a thing of the past. Imitation is all we know.
Marketing is all we see. Jockeying for power positions of questionable (if any) intrinsic value is the norm.
Knowledge is becoming more and more segmented and less than skin deep. Youth is begining to forget that its job
is to look inward. Money and fame, alone, are motivations. What is integrity to this world? What is meaning? ..."

| It must be the moon who made me such emotional.................... It's been 6 years. I became a stranger to my home town, Beijing. 100 days in Beijing for the last 6 years, I am a stranger!!! I called my parents 2 hours ago and heared dad dreamed about me last night. Suddenly, the emotion was so strong that I couldn't help myself crying. So I cried in the phone, in front of my parents. I had to hangup. I had to be strong. I don't want to make Mom cry. But I just miss them so much!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! So I was sitting in front of my computer, staring at the photo Mom took in Beijing few days ago.
There is a poster hanging on the wall behind my desk. It has a cool headshot of a wolf with the word "NO FEAR" underneath. I see this poster everyday and not untill now, I couldn't realize the true reason for putting it there. I think I am afraid. I am afraid of lot of things. And I need the poster, the word, to remind me and to push me to be brave.
I could enjoy my life. I know how to embrace the loneliness. But I am afraid of distance. The physical distance from my family. And the physical distance between Trista and I. ... Good men, the last wave by, crying how bright Their frail deeds might have danced in a green bay, Rage, rage against the dying of the light. ... ... do not go gentle into that good night ... |

6:30pm, I went down to the Thunderbirds stadium shooting
women soccer ball game. I thought I will take at least a hundred photos, but surprisingly, I only took no more than 30 and
10 of them turned out to be really good.
My skill improved and the new L series lens is the icing on the cake. After the soccer game, I walked down the Main Mall to the MacMillan Building. Room 260 was the place where I could grab a piece of bread with cups of wine. It's my first wine studying course. I drank 6 different wines with sushi and bread. Wine tasting is way more complicated than I thought, but it's so fun!!! |

Finally, I could have some rest at home. ET, James and Daniel came visiting. We decide to play Texas Hold'em. There were cocktails,
beer, coke and chocolate. And of course, music!!!
Texas Hold'em is interesting. I had a really good time.
Daniel aand James were standing behind me while watching the "sin city" after the poker game. We only watched part of the movie and I feel it weird. Anyway, a black and white film looks really cool.
Ubyssey released it's 2nd issue for September. I don't have any time to update the photo yet. Hopefully I could do it tomorrow. |

Despite the long exhaustic production night on monday, when I first saw the 24 pages full color Ubyssey News Paper
in the morning at UBC bookstore, I knew that everything was worthful.
Today is the first day for school. I carried my camera, walking around UBC to catch some photos for friday's issue. It's the first time in the recent years that I don't need to be rushed or worring about the course schedule. The feeling is kind of weird. I mean you are still in the place where you were used to be, but doing a completely different thing from the past. Anyway ... To my surprise, UBC opened a gender-neutral washroom in the SUB. So you walked in, seeing a girl, smile, then go pee freely. |
