Shooting the "Times Colonist Run" this morning with Johnson, Robert, Allie and Matt in downtown Victoria. The race took shorter time
than Vancouver Sun Run. I photographied 2800 photos while Johnson got more than 4000 shots. Allie was shooting on the ladder for almost 3 hours.
Nic Hume, the photographer from Times Colonist, was shooting the race as well. It's nice to meet him.
Allie Kordoski was testing her camera.
I am so happy to have this chance getting out of Vancouver for 2 days. My mind is refreshed now. Working for Fleet Feet Photos is fun. Travelling with Johnson and Robert is easy and comfortable. I shoot some street photos yesterday and try to make them look like Nic Fensom's "so your style". I called it "SO NOT MY STYLE" and I like it. |

Shooting Vancouver Sun Run for Fleet Feet Photo today, it's was an interesting experience. Ideally, we should cover every single
runner and upload their photos on the internet. But there were around 50 thousand people. Not an easy job!
We have 10 photographers took photo together at the finish line, 4 on the ground, 6 on the lift.
There were 4 people with 6 laptops downloading images for photographers.
Like I said, it's an interesting experience. First time ever for me to shoot over 7000 photos within 5 hours. It's like 24 photos per minute. Well, it's not really photography but an ultimate shooting game. |

| Looking at my last year's blog, photos were taken mostly on the street either in Vancouver or other cities that I traveled. In the recent 8-month,
working on the job at Ubyssey, news and sports photos dominated my camera's viewfinder. Now I am back on the street. Spending most of my day in downtown checking out new CDs and books, I carried my SD500 photographing every little detail that fascinated me on the street.
The following photo was taken with flash. To avoid a strong direct flash light which will lead a harsh reflection, I moved my camera horizontally while I took the shoot. I didn't worry about the camera movement since I knew the flash will give me a clear focused flower.
To darken the background, I set up my camera under ISO50. Low ISO could dark the massive background and the in camera flash lighting up the main objects perfectly. Photo was taken around 1pm on Alberni St. Later in the afternoon, I went to Lens & Shutter to buy the visibledust sensor cleaning kit. I tried it on my 1D MarkII N and the result met the expectation. By the way, Lens & Shutter sucks. Yes that's what I said. They knew nothing about the cleaning kit. I asked 3 people there about how to use it. None of them knew the exact procedures. And none of them actually tried the product. Dude, if you know nothing about your product, how dare you put it on sale? BOO!!!!!!!!!!!! What's worse, after checking the manufactory website, I realized that they sold me the wrong size brush. What the hell!!!! If Leos camera wasn't close, I wouldn't go to Lens & Shutter AT ALL!!!!! Jean-Pierre Jeunet, the director of "Amelie"(Fabuleux destin d'Am¨Ślie Poulain, Le) and "A very long engagement", will start filming "Life of Pi". It's an exciting news to me. A wonderful book filmed by one of my favorite director. I can't wait to see it!!!!!!!!!!!! |

| I just realize that my life has been ubysseylized and I am affraid of Monday, Thursday, because I have no where to go
and nothing to do now. The editor turnover party was fun. Photos will be updated later. Now, I am going to read Milan Kundera's book which I suppose to read a week ago. Trista is playing with Muffin on the floor. They are cute. |

| Spending 3 nights to reinstall, backup my desktop system is a boring job. I am glad that I almost finish it. The biggest news to me today is the Beta version of Apple Bootcamp. It allows a Mac user use windows xp freely on his/her Mac OS.X system. As a photographer, I really want to have a stable operating system. Especially after this tragedy, I realized how important to keep your file system organized and well backuped. Speaking about backup, I used more than 20 DVD+r and 30 CDR now to backup my photos and important files. I will spend 2 hours each weekend to backup my weekly photos. I am affraid to lose them. If I could get the job, I will switch to apple! |

| Finally, my worst nightmare came true. The last couple days were like hell to me. With
the extant positive spirit and the last piece of luck, I somehow could manage myself updating april28th.com
on laptop computer with 9 different viruses running behind the screen at the same time. God I love windows! I got fever last Friday, not too serious but sick enough to make me strengthless. Saturday my computer crushed. What's worse, the initiating process of windows reinstallation triggered the virus damaging a slave hard drive. I lost ever single file on one of the partition. Johnson came over helping me recover the data. I got some luck and recovered part of them. However, the 200GB Seagate hard drive ran into a series disasters and had to be low level formated. Johnson went back home around 5 o'clock and I went to sleep at 7:30 in the morning with tons of works to do later. Before going to sleep, I took this photo on the balcony. Sunrise is so pretty. Surprisingly, this my first time watching sunrise with Trista. @_@
5 hours sleep, I got up at 12:30 rushing out to shoot the protest on Kingsway. David Emerson .... sucks!!!
If this is the way to start April, I do wish everything could be better at the end. |
